SINGLE WIND TURBINE PROJECT
The installation of a Single Wind Turbine will provide a substantial portion of the Standing Rock Nation’s electricity load while accelerating our transition to renewable energy, advancing Standing Rock’s energy self-determination and resilience goals, and subsidizing energy costs for Elders.
GOALS
Energy Independence
This project accelerates Standing Rock’s transition from fossil fuels to a sovereign energy future harmonious with Unci Maka (Grandmother Earth).
Economic Savings
Energy generation from this project is estimated to save approximately $378k monthly by offsetting electricity consumption.
Community Support
The project will generate over $14M in cumulative cash flows through a bill credit mechanism. These savings will be transferred to the bills of Tribal Elders, ensuring that the community directly benefits from the project.
Environmental Impact
Over the life of the project, the Single Wind Turbine will prevent the release of nearly 6 million pounds of CO2, which is the equivalent of around 3 million pounds of coal burned or 500 homes’ electricity use for 1 year.
PROGRESS
The Single Wind Turbine Project is in the pre-development phase, pursuing grants and investments to maximize economic benefit and meet federal requirements.
