OUR STORY
The #NoDAPL movement brought global attention to the Standing Rock Nation and our efforts to protect Grandmother Earth. With that momentum, SAGE was founded to be a powerful force working towards community development and self-determination for the Standing Rock Nation.
A 100% Native-led organization, SAGE embodies the resilience of the Standing Rock Nation. We aim to harness the power of the land and our people to create economic opportunities and energy independence, protect the environment, and invest in our future.

OUR MISSION
SAGE provides renewable and sustainable energy resources in balance with Natural Law to recognize the interconnectedness of all living things.
OUR GOALS
Development of the Tribe’s renewable energy resources to benefit future generations
Promoting the Tribe’s economic development and ensuring effective investment of profits into the community
Enabling the Tribe to be self-sufficient and to enable self-determination through ownership in key projects
OUR VISION
SAGE represents a model for community-determined development
As a federally chartered Section 17 Corporation under the Indian Reorganization Act, SAGE allows Standing Rock to establish a corporation to act on its behalf without waiving the rights of the Nation and its assets.
SAGE creates renewable energy resources to benefit future generations
We make decisions by looking at what will benefit our people 7 generations ahead. Sound decisions must have a positive impact on our relatives in 500 years.
SAGE leads as the first Native-owned public power company
Our goal is to achieve majority ownership over time.
SAGE promotes economic justice and equity
SAGE will create jobs within the Standing Rock Nation community and beyond, becoming a force for economic growth and development.
SAGE empowers women Tribal members
We are a women-led organization, with women serving as the Chair and Vice Chair of the Tribal-appointed Board of Directors.
